June is a busy busy month, SMYRCers! Here’s a breakdown of some of the highlights that we’ve heard about, including when and where to meet to walk in the Pride Parade with SMYRC/Q Center! And along with all these great events, we’ll be making signs and t-shirts every night in drop in until the Parade! Come join us! Blackbuster Movie and Game Night

Blackbuster movie and game night is on a special night this month with a special movie! This month for Pride they are doing it way big! Feature film begins at 6:30pm.

Black Pride Summit

Portland Community College-Cascade Campus (Student Center Building)
The Portland Black Pride Summit: "Together We Can" -an opportunity to explore diversities & multiple identities and the ways we can stand in solidarity as we come together as a community. The summit will be an afternoon of interesting workshops covering a wide range of topics relevant to the Black LGBTQA community, thought provoking discussions, information, community resources, and entertainment. Attendees will receive breakfast, lunch, and several free giveaways. We will also have free HIV testing throughout the afternoon, Black Pride t-shirts, and gift cards and prizes! Queer Heros NW! Opening Reception

Q Center and the Gay & Lesbian Archives of the Pacific Northwest (GLAPN) have partnered on a multi-media celebration of LGBTQ pioneers and leaders from our local movement.
The 30 queer heroes will be featured on the walls of the Aaron Hall Gallery at Q Center for the month of June, as well as in Q Center’s booth at the south waterfront Pride festival June 15th-17th in Portland. Please join us for this opening reception! Many of the queer heroes being honored will be in attendance.

It’s that time of year again! Time for the Parade! Come walk in the Parade with SMYRC, the Q Center and many other amazing groups that we partner with and love! We’ll start gathering on NW Park Ave, between NW Davis and NW Couch at 10:30am… the parade kicks off at 11:30am and we’ll be walking the parade route down to the Pride Fest at the Waterfront which will be going on all weekend! The Dill Pickle Club presents: The (oh so) Queer History of Portland

Starts at the Portland Institute for Contemporary Art, 415 SW 10th Ave
Join us for a walking tour of our city’s past and present queer culture — including the history of the struggle for gay rights and current challenges faced by the LGBTQ community. Learn about old “camp” sites, haunts and hideouts of Vaseline Alley, gay bathhouses, gay liberation, Portland’s gay press and more. Guest speakers include infamous drag queen Darcelle (Walter Cole), David Kohl (Historian, Gay and Lesbian Pacific Northwest Archives) and Dr. Ann Mussey (Professor, PSU, Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies), as well as speakers from Cascade Aids Project and Basic Rights Oregon.
